US Stock Market: Trump delivers new healthcare law

• On March 9 ECB decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 0.00%, 0.25% and -0.40% respectively. The Governing Council continues to expect the key ECB interest rates to remain at present or lower levels for an extended period of time. The Bank confirmed that it will continue to make purchases under the asset purchase program at the current monthly pace of 80 billion euros until the end of this year. If the outlook becomes less favourable, the ECB Governing Council stands ready to increase the program. Mario Draghi declared the increase of the forecast for the growth of the Eurozone economy and the inflation rate.
• The U.S. economy churned out 235,000 new jobs in February mainly due to recovery in construction industry, the government said on March 10. The unemployment rate, meanwhile, dipped to 4.7% from 4.8%. Wages for the average American worker rose 0.2% last month to $26.09 an hour. The government said 238,000 new jobs were created in January instead of 227,000.
• On March 21 the The Federal Reserve System raised the key rate to 1%. Fed plans two more hikes this year, which is less than 2016 forecast. Janet Yellen said at a postmeeting press conference that the regulator intends to stick to the promise of a gradual increase of interest rates. According to her statement, the March hike was necessary because without it risks for financial stability could be created in the future. At the same time, Yellen noted that the «neutral levels»of the key interest rate is now not so far away.
• The Bank of England at its meeting on March 16 left its monetary policy unchanged. The bank left a key interest rate at a record low of 0.25%. The Bank of Japan did the same, remaining committed to its expansionist measures. The economy of the Asian country is being restored with the help of a weaker yen.
